  • Innovation Pavilion 9200 E Mineral Ave Centennial, CO, 80112 (map)

The Starboard Group is a premier political and non-profit consulting firm with offices in Colorado and Washington D.C. Whether tasked with raising millions of dollars for candidates seeking federal office or breathing new life into dynamic non-profits, the Starboard Group has delivered.

Katie Behnke

As comfortable practicing her shot on the family ranch in Moffat County as she is on the campaign trail, Managing Partner Katie Behnke has never been one to mince words. This straight-shooting style has served Katie well as she executed a number of successful political and fundraising campaigns throughout her career.

Katie has advised a veritable who’s who of Colorado politics. Senator Elect Cory Gardner, Attorney General Cynthia Coffman, Lt. Gov. Jane Norton, Congressman Mike Coffman, Colorado Attorney General John Suthers, State Senate Majority Leader Mark Hillman, Aurora Mayor Ed Tauer, U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell and Gov. Bill Owens have all, at one time or another, counted on Katie for her sage advice and hard work. Most recently, Katie served as the Finance Director and Deputy Campaign Manager for Senator Cory Gardner’s U.S. Senate race.

Katie’s independent Western spirit, combined with her love of Colorado, led her to co-found The Starboard Group in 2008. A fourth-generation Coloradan, Katie serves as the Denver board chair for the March of Dimes, the Regional Chair for Teneo, the Colorado Leadership Board for Maverick PAC and is on the National Thought Leaders Advisory Council for the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation. She also volunteers her time with several non-profits in the region.

Kristin Strohm

Known for her ability to maintain grace under pressure, Managing Partner Kristin Strohm’s poise, confidence, and creativity give her an edge in the fast-paced world of politics. These attributes, combined with Kristin capacity to take the fifty-thousand view of any situations and quickly craft a thoughtful and effective strategy, have served her well throughout her career.

After working as the director of development for the Metro Denver Sports Commission, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing premier sporting events to the Mile High City, Kristin co-founded the Starboard Group in 2008 to marry her love of politics with her desire to give back to the community.

Kristin is intimately acquainted with Colorado’s local businesses, foundations, and non-profits. Kristin is past board chair and was a six-year board member of the Women’s Bean Project, an organization dedicated to helping lift women out of poverty and unemployment. She also serves as co-chair of the Seed to Sprout fundraising campaign for the Bean Project. In 2015, she joined the Boy Scouts of America Executive Board of the Denver Area Council. In addition, Kristin serves on the board of the Strohm-Link Family Foundation.

In 2013, Kristin received the Denver Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award, which recognized her as one of Denver’s young, dynamic, up-and-coming leaders under age 40.
